The OMEI project reached a significant milestone on October 8th. After several weeks of intensive preparation, the specially developed control cabinet was successfully handed over for transport to the test facility being built in Teisnach.
The Chair of Distributed Information Systems at the University of Passau, the FORWISS Institute, the Energy Technology Center (TZE) at Landshut University of Applied Sciences in Ruhstorf and HEITEC Innovations GmbH worked in close collaboration to prepare the control cabinet for its future use in the test facility. There the cabinet is placed on a mounting plate and connected to the other components using the connection cables.
The central communication unit, consisting of a firewall, VPN access point, WLAN and LTE modem, plays a key role in the transmission path to the university servers. Together with the industrial computer prepared by HEITEC and the weather station receiver, the system receives its artificial consciousness and can continuously collect data. Thanks to the TZE, the system is protected from external circumstances such as power fluctuations or extreme climatic conditions.
The collection of the control cabinet marks an important step forward in the OMEI project and brings us one step closer to realizing our research goals. We look forward to further developments and the successful installation of the control cabinet in Teisnach.
